Liranyi Alonso Shines in the 200 Meters and Sets New Record at the Junior Pan American Games

Dominican athlete Liranyi Alonso was crowned champion in the 200-meter final this Thursday, leaving an indelible mark on the Junior Pan American Games.

Alonso achieved a time of 22 seconds and 69 hundredths, setting a new record for the competition. This impressive performance surpassed the previous mark of 22.96, established by the Ecuadorian Anahí Suárez in the inaugural edition of the games held in Cali four years ago.

The competition was fierce, with Colombian Marleth Ospino securing the silver medal with a time of 23 seconds and 14 hundredths. The bronze went to Keliza Smith of Guyana, who completed the race in 23.42.

The emotions of athletics will continue until this Friday at the stadium of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee complex in Luque.
