Francisco Lindor, Under Evaluation for Wrist Fracture
New York Mets star shortstop Francisco Lindor is under medical evaluation due to a stress fracture in a bone in his left wrist, according to David Stearns, the club’s president of baseball operations.
The news, announced this Tuesday, has generated concern among the team’s fans, as Lindor is a fundamental piece in both the defense and the offense of the Mets.
Stearns indicated that there is a possibility that the Puerto Rican player may require surgery, which would imply a recovery period estimated at six weeks.
Despite this possibility, the executive pointed out that, even in the scenario of a surgical intervention, Lindor could be ready for Opening Day.
The Inaugural Day is scheduled for March 26, the date on which the Mets will face the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The New York organization awaits the final results of the medical evaluations to determine Lindor’s treatment plan.
