Licey Bolsters Infield with Andretty Cordero Acquisition
Santo Domingo – The Tigres del Licey have officially announced the incorporation of the talented infielder Andretty Cordero, who joins the team as a free agent for the 2026-27 season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM).
Audo Vicente, Vice President of Operations and General Manager of the team, highlighted the importance of this addition, emphasizing the versatility and depth that Cordero will bring to the infield, as well as his offensive value and experience in various positions.
Cordero, 28 years old and from Santo Domingo, arrives after a standout performance with the Rieleros de Aguascalientes in the Mexican Baseball League.
In 91 games, Cordero exhibited an impressive batting average of .368, an on-base percentage of .407, 27 doubles, 22 home runs, 100 RBIs, and an OPS of 1.018.
During the 2025 season, the player set a record by driving in runs in 16 consecutive games, solidifying himself as one of the most outstanding offensive figures in the circuit.
In the LIDOM, Cordero began his career with the Gigantes del Cibao in the 2019-20 season. His best performance was recorded in the 2023-24 season with the Águilas Cibaeñas, where he batted .313 and reached an on-base percentage of .402.
In addition, he has participated in the Mexican Pacific League with the Naranjeros de Hermosillo, standing out with a .346 average in the 2023-24 season.
With this signing, the Tigres del Licey continue to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season, betting on proven and high-impact talent.
