Sturla Holm Laegreid Confesses Infidelity After Winning Olympic Bronze

Norwegian biathlete Sturla Holm Laegreid, recent bronze medalist in the 20-kilometer combined cross-country skiing and rifle shooting event at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, shocked the sports world by confessing to infidelity to his partner during an interview after the competition. The shocking revelation came in tears, in a moment of vulnerability after obtaining the medal.

“There’s someone I’d like to share this with, although maybe they’re not watching television today. Six months ago I met the love of my life. The most beautiful and wonderful person in the world. Three months ago I made the biggest mistake of my life and was unfaithful, and I told them a week ago. It’s been the worst week of my life.”

Laegreid stated that the sport had taken a backseat after confessing his infidelity to his partner, a woman whose identity was not revealed. The visibly affected Norwegian athlete stated that he will not give up in his fight to recover the relationship.

“I told her a week ago and, of course, it’s over. I am not willing to give up. I hope that committing social suicide will show how much I love her. I take responsibility for what I have done. I am truly sorry.”

Laegreid explained that his decision to publicly confess his mistake was motivated by the desire to be honest and transparent with his partner.

“I’ve realized that this is the woman of my life and that I can’t live my whole life hiding it from her. My only way to achieve my goal is to tell everything and put everything on the table, and hope that she still loves me. I’ve done it for her and now for the whole world. I have nothing to lose.”
