Houston – Veteran reliever Craig Kimbrel has reached an agreement to join the Houston Astros bullpen, according to recent reports. The news, which has not yet been officially confirmed by the team, represents a significant reinforcement for the Texan team.
Kimbrel, recognized as one of the most outstanding relievers in the history of Major League Baseball, could bring valuable experience to the team.
At 37 years old, Kimbrel has had an active season in the Majors. Previously, he pitched a scoreless inning with the Atlanta Braves on June 6th.
Subsequently, he signed with the Texas Rangers, where he participated in 24 games with the Triple-A Round Rock team, achieving an ERA of 3.86 and recording 28 strikeouts in 21 innings.
Kimbrel boasts an impressive MLB track record, including nine All-Star selections, four Reliever of the Year awards, and the Rookie of the Year award in 2011 with the Braves. In addition, he was part of the Boston Red Sox team that won the World Series in 2018.
Throughout his career, Kimbrel has accumulated 449 saves, the fifth-most in Major League history, with an ERA of 2.59 and 1,266 strikeouts in 810.2 innings pitched.
If this signing materializes, the Astros would add a pitcher with a great track record to strengthen their bullpen for the end of the 2025 season.
