Juan Soto Returns to Action with the Mets

New York – Dominican outfielder Juan Soto is set to rejoin the New York Mets’ lineup this Tuesday, marking his return after missing two games due to illness. The announcement was made prior to the second game of the series against the Cincinnati Reds at Citi Field.

Soto, who has been a key piece in the team’s offense, will act as the designated hitter and will bat third in the batting order, preceded by Bo Bichette and followed by A.J. Ewing.

The player had been out of action due to flu-like symptoms that kept him sidelined over the weekend.

So far this season, Soto has shown his worth with a batting average of .294 and an OPS of .949. In addition, he has hit 10 home runs, driven in 21 runs, scored 22 and drawn 22 walks in 136 official at-bats.

The Mets have also made adjustments to their roster before Tuesday’s game.

Gardener Tyrone Taylor was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a right hip flexor injury sustained during Monday’s game against Cincinnati.

Also, the team activated left-handed reliever A.J. Minter and infielder/outfielder Jared Young from the injured list, while prospect Nick Morabito and pitcher Jonathan Pintaro were sent to Triple-A Syracuse.

Infielder Eric Wagaman was also added to the Major League roster.

Morabito, considered one of the organization’s top prospects, said goodbye without connecting any hits in 11 at-bats during his first experience in the Majors.

The Mets are confident that Soto’s return will strengthen their offense, which has been affected by recent absences and injuries.
