Juan Soto wins National League Player of the Month Award
Dominican outfielder Juan Soto has been awarded the National League Player of the Month for June, following an outstanding performance that solidifies him as a key figure for the Mets. Soto, who had a challenging start to the season, demonstrated his potential with a historic performance for the franchise. In June, Soto recorded a .322 batting average, a .474 on-base percentage, and a .722 slugging percentage, giving him an OPS of 1.196, the best among all Major League hitters with at least 75 at-bats in that period. In addition, he hit 11 home runs, tying for the third-most in a calendar month for a Mets player. This award is a response to those who doubted Soto’s performance after his arrival at the Mets in free agency. With 20 home runs this season, the Dominican has demonstrated his worth and his impact on the team’s offense. This is Soto’s first recognition as Player of the Month, but his performance suggests it won’t be the last.
