Juan Soto Confirms his Participation in the 2026 World Baseball Classic
The Dominican Baseball Federation (Fedom) announced this Sunday the confirmation of Juan Soto to represent the Dominican Republic in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. This will be the second time that the outstanding outfielder participates in the international tournament.
The news of Soto’s participation joins the growing list of Major League players who have expressed their desire to play with the Dominican Republic national team. The team continues to be in the process of formation for the tournament, which will be held in March.
With the incorporation of Soto, the Dominican team strengthens its roster, which already has important figures. In the pitching staff, relievers Seranthony Domínguez and Carlos Estévez stand out, along with starters Sandy Alcántara, Cristopher Sánchez and Brayan Bello.
In the gardens, Julio Rodríguez, Oneil Cruz, and Fernando Tatis Jr. are added. The infield is made up of Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Carlos Santana, catcher Yainer Díaz, and utility player Amed Rosario. The team promises a balance between offense, defense, and depth.
The 2026 World Baseball Classic will take place from March 5 to 17. The Dominican Republic will compete in Group D, at loanDepot park in Miami, along with Venezuela, Nicaragua, Netherlands, and Israel.
The Dominican team will seek its second world title, after the undefeated victory in 2013.
The Dominican Republic team’s debut will be on March 6 against Nicaragua, at 7:00 PM (Eastern Time).
