Minister of Sports Announces Juan Pablo Duarte Patriotic Sports Games in New York
SANTO DOMINGO. The Minister of Sports, Ing. Kelvin Cruz, announced at an event the celebration of the Juan Pablo Duarte patriotic sports games. These games will take place from August 15 to 31 of the current year in the city of New York. More than 2,000 athletes, competing in 21 disciplines, will have the opportunity to represent their diaspora communities. Athletes from New York, New Jersey, Boston, Providence, Rhode Island and other communities will participate in this sporting event. In the past, athletes like Francisco García and Luis Flores, among others, have emerged thanks to the celebration of these games, which were previously known as Juegos Patrios. The main table of the event was headed by the Minister of Sports Kelvin Cruz. The Consul General in New York, Jesús Chu Vásquez.The resident community in New York and other communities are expected to provide their support for these games. “These games are yours and for you,” Cruz proclaimed in his speech to members of the press.“We have decided to name these games as Juan Pablo Duarte since they were previously called Patriotic Games and any country has a homeland, but Juan Pablo Duarte is only held by the Dominican Republic, we are going to celebrate unforgettable games for the diaspora:”, added Kelvin Cruz in his speech.
