CLEVELAND – Dominican star third baseman José Ramírez will not be present at the 2025 Major League All-Star Game, an event that will take place on Tuesday at Truist Park in Atlanta.

This was confirmed this Wednesday by MLB, announcing that Mexican Isaac Paredes, of the Houston Astros, will take his place on the American League team.

Ramirez prioritizes his recovery

Ramírez, 32, was selected as the starting third baseman for the American League, marking his seventh All-Star selection and the fourth time he has been a starter (2017, 2018, 2024 and now in 2025). However, after the first half of the season with the Guardians, he has chosen to focus on his physical recovery and prepare for the final part of the campaign.

The Dominican has maintained a crucial role in Cleveland’s offense. In 87 games, he has demonstrated a solid offensive performance with a batting average of .299/.364/.503, including 16 home runs, 44 RBIs, 17 doubles, 24 stolen bases, and only 41 strikeouts. Defensively, he has also excelled, accumulating 2 Outs Above Average, ranking sixth among MLB third basemen.

On June 26th, Ramírez was hit by a pitch on his right wrist by pitcher Kevin Gausman (Toronto), which prevented him from playing a game. Although he quickly returned to action, he experienced a brief decrease in his offensive performance before recovering his level. In his last five games, he has connected six hits in 18 at-bats, including three home runs and six RBIs.

With the absence of Ramírez, Isaac Paredes receives his first All-Star Game invitation. The player from Sonora has been a constant figure for the Astros, establishing himself as one of the best third basemen of the 2025 season in the American League.

The 2025 All-Star Game will be held on Tuesday, July 15 in Atlanta.
