Manny Machado and Austin Wells: New Dominicans with ID Cards in Hand
Santo Domingo – In a special day organized by the Central Electoral Board (JCE), data capture and delivery of new IDs were carried out for the members of the Dominican baseball team, prior to their participation in the World Baseball Classic.
For three days, JCE staff were present at the hotel where the team was staying, collecting biometric and personal data. On Wednesday, the identity documents were delivered to the players and coaching staff.
The activity was led by Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo, president of the JCE, along with Rafael Armando Vallejo Santelises and Suedi León Jiménez, Director of Communications.
This initiative is part of the JCE’s renovation program, which has already benefited figures from the Cooperstown Hall of Fame, such as Juan Marichal, Pedro Martínez, Vladimir Guerrero and David Ortiz, as well as other strategic sectors of society.
The list of players who received the new ID includes Juan Soto, Fernando Tatis Jr., Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Ketel Marte, Julio Rodríguez, Geraldo Perdomo, Jeremy Peña, Oneil Cruz, Carlos Santana, Agustín Ramírez, Sandy Alcántara, Luis Severino, Carlos Estévez, Camilo Doval, Seranthony Domínguez, Brayan Bello, Junior Caminero, Huáscar Brazobán, Gregory Soto, Abner Uribe, Wandy Peralta, Elvis Alvarado, Amed Rosario, Juan Mejía, Albert Abreu, Emilio Bonifacio, Mel Rojas, Enny Romero and Jimmy Cordero.
In a highlight, Manny Machado and Austin Wells received their cedula for the first time, formalizing their status as Dominican citizens.
In addition to the players, key figures from the technical team also received their identity documents, including Albert Pujols (leader), Nelson Cruz (general manager), Adrian Beltre, Jose Reyes, Edwin Encarnacion, Placido Polanco, Carlos Febles, Joel Peralta, Julio Borbon, Fernando Tatis Sr. and Jose Cano.
Also present were Fleming Báez and Ronny Pérez, along with René Rojas and Jorge Mejía. The activity was attended by Omar Minaya, former general manager of the New York Mets, and Juan Núñez, president of the National Baseball Federation, among other personalities.
The data capture and delivery of credentials was supported by the technical support of various departments of the JCE, facilitating the process for athletes and the technical staff.
The day took place at the Intercontinental Hotel in the city, as part of the focused deployment of the new ID format, thus avoiding unnecessary transfers for the athletes.
