The 2025 Intercontinental Cup is about to complete its list of participants, following the definition of the European, African, and Concacaf tournaments. The anticipation now centers on the Copa Libertadores, whose round of 16 will be drawn this Monday at the Conmebol headquarters in Luque, Paraguay.

Paris Saint-Germain secured their place after winning the Champions League. The team led by Luis Enrique Martínez dominated Inter Milan, achieving a resounding 5-0 victory at the Allianz Arena. Now, PSG will seek to succeed Real Madrid, champion of the previous edition, who defeated Mexican side Pachuca 3-0 at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar.

In Africa, the Egyptian Pyramids were crowned champions for the first time in their history. They defeated the South African Mamelodi Sundowns with an aggregate score of 2-1, after a draw in the first leg and a victory in Cairo.

Meanwhile, Mexico’s Cruz Azul was crowned for the seventh time in the Concacaf Champions Cup, after thrashing Canada’s Vancouver Whitecaps 5-0 at the Olympic University. This triumph also secures a place in the 2029 Club World Cup.

These teams join New Zealand’s Auckland City, champion of the Oceania Champions League, and Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, winner of the Asian Champions League. The last spot for the 2025 Intercontinental Cup will depend on the champion of the Copa Libertadores, which is yet to be decided.
