Santo Domingo – The National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI), under the direction of Alberto Rodríguez Mella, has begun the construction of a covered sports complex at the San Vicente de Paúl School, located in Los Mina, Santo Domingo Este, as part of its national sports building program. In an event attended by authorities and community leaders, Rodríguez Mella emphasized the importance of this work, describing it as more than just a simple structure. “More than a structure, this roof will be a space for sports, healthy coexistence, recreation, and the well-being of all,” he stated.

We formally begin an important sports infrastructure project, which seeks to offer a suitable space for the practice of sports, promoting physical activity, healthy coexistence and a healthy lifestyle, especially among young people. It will also serve as a place for recreation, leisure and socialization, benefiting both the educational center and the community

Father Gregorio Alegría, director of the educational center, recalled the school’s founding in 1964 by the Congregation of the Mission, with the purpose of educating children from low-income backgrounds. Currently, the school houses 2,509 elementary and secondary students, with a focus on Christian values and the integration of technology. INEFI has also announced the start of construction of the sports center of the Liceo República de Paraguay, in Ciudad Nueva, Distrito Nacional, and is working on the completion of roofing in Bayaguana and the Fabio Amable Mota Educational Center, in Santo Domingo Este.
