INEFI and FEDOM Announce 2025 National School Baseball Tournament

Santo Domingo – The National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI), in collaboration with the Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOM), has announced the celebration of the II National School Baseball Tournament 2025. This sporting event will bring together young students between 10 and 12 years old, from the 32 provinces of the Dominican Republic. The tournament will take place from August 19 to September 7 and will have national coverage.

We are not looking for signatures, but rather to keep children focused on sports and away from the risks of the street.

During a press conference, Alberto Rodríguez Mella, executive director of INEFI, highlighted the importance of this tournament as a fundamental tool for training and prevention through sports.

This is a true educational revolution in the sports field that is taking place in the Dominican Republic.

Juan Núñez Nepomuceno, president of FEDOM, valued the impact of the event, recalling that in the previous edition talents were discovered who later represented the country in the Baseball World Championship. The tournament will include 68 matches, starting with regional qualifiers in school and municipal stadiums. The competition zones will be El Valle, Higuamo, Cibao Norte, Noroeste, Cibao Sur and Cibao Nordeste. The teams that advance will face each other in the semifinals on September 6, and the grand final will be played on September 7 at the Oratorio María Auxiliadora. Eddy González, technical director of INEFI, detailed that each team will play two matches in the initial phase, advancing through zonal stages to the final. The event is supported by the Dominican Baseball Federation and the Major League Baseball (MLB) Office in the country. In the first edition, the team from the National District was crowned champion. In the ad, Fernando Ravelo and Álvaro Samboy, prominent figures in national baseball, participated.
