Haina Celebrates: Delivery of Court in the Framboyán Sector Boosts Sports and Community Cohesion

Haina, San Cristóbal – The Ministry of Youth has delivered a new sports court as part of the “Una Cancha Pa’ mi Barrio” program, a key project of “Juventud con B de Barrio”. This initiative seeks to revitalize public spaces, promote sports, and strengthen community unity, positively impacting various sectors of Haina. The official inauguration of the court, located in the Framboyán sector, was the culmination of a day that included a press conference at the Haina Sports Center. During this meeting, the authorities shared details about the scope and impact of the program, as well as the upcoming projects that will be implemented in other communities of the country.

The mayor of Haina, Osvaldo Rodríguez, highlighted the importance of these projects to strengthen sports and recreational spaces, benefiting the youth and the entire community.

The Minister of Youth, Carlos Valdez, led the delivery and explained that the program arose from the needs identified during the “Youth with B de Barrio” days. The main objective is to transform informal spaces, used by young people to play basketball, into modern, safe, and suitable facilities for sports development and coexistence. The delivery of the court in Framboyán provides the community with a vital space for recreation, sports, and the social integration of young people. With this new installment, the program “Una Cancha Pa’ mi Barrio” has already benefited 17 areas throughout the country. The project continues to expand, with plans to recover more sports spaces in vulnerable areas, with the goal of building more than 200 courts throughout the national territory. The objective is to create safer, healthier, and more inclusive environments for Dominican youth. The community and young people expressed their satisfaction with this initiative, highlighting the importance of having decent spaces that promote social and sports development in their sectors. Through these programs, the Ministry of Youth reaffirms its commitment to the integral well-being of Dominican youth, using sports as a fundamental tool for social transformation.
