GLENDALE, Arizona. Star first baseman Freddie Freeman has expressed his desire to continue his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers and retire wearing the uniform of his hometown team. After four seasons with the Los Angeles organization, Freeman expressed his intention to play until the age of 40, seeking to complete at least four more campaigns in the Major Leagues. Currently, he has a contract for two additional years, but his goal is clear: to end his career in Los Angeles.
Since his arrival in 2022, Freeman has established himself as a fundamental pillar of the team. His performance in the 2024 World Series, including a memorable grand slam, was etched in the memory of fans as one of the most iconic moments in the franchise. In these four seasons with the Dodgers, he has maintained a solid offensive line of .310/.391/.516, demonstrating his consistency. For the 2026 season, Freeman has defined goals. He aims to participate in all 162 regular season games and all postseason games. Although manager Dave Roberts has carefully managed his rest days, Freeman is preparing to be available for every game. At an individual level, he seeks to recover his average above .300, after closing 2025 with .295, one of the best records in the National League. Recovered from the rehabilitation of his right ankle, operated on last spring, he trusts in improving his performance both offensively and defensively. In the long run, the first baseman also has his sights set on the exclusive 3,000-hit club. Currently, he leads active players in hits in the Majors, and needs 569 to reach the figure, a feasible goal if he maintains his productivity in the coming seasons. With 16 seasons in the Major Leagues, Freeman’s motivation remains intact. His passion for the game and the desire to compete at the highest level continue to drive him as he approaches the end of a historic career that, if it depends on him, will conclude with the Dodgers uniform in Los Angeles.I love being here, the veteran expressed, highlighting the support of the fans and the treatment towards his family. Although he avoided referring to a future negotiation, he made it clear that his priority is to fulfill his contract and continue contributing on the field.
