Junior International Badminton Tournament: A Milestone for the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo – The president of the Dominican Badminton Federation (FEDOBAD), Nelson Javier Ozuna, has described the celebration of the New Horizons Junior International Badminton Tournament as a historic event. This prestigious tournament will take place from July 1st to 5th at the New Horizons Bilingual School.

The competition will feature the participation of athletes from five countries, including the host, Dominican Republic. Javier Ozuna made these statements during a press conference held at the school’s facilities.

In the meeting, the president of FEDOBAD expressed his gratitude to the directors of the educational center for their collaboration in holding the event. The tournament will bring together young talents from the Under-11 and Under-19 categories, coming from the United States, Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Peru and the Dominican Republic.

This tournament’s main objective is to promote badminton development and prepare athletes for future international commitments. Among these, a youth tournament and the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 stand out.

The FEDOBAD executive took the opportunity to thank the Bilingual New Horizons School for the opportunity it has given Dominican badminton in competitive and development aspects, as well as the support of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (MIDEREC) and the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI).

The coordinator of the New Horizons school, Francisco Russet, assured that all the details for the tournament are covered and is confident in the positive impact that the event will have regionally.
