Formula 1 Secures Its Future with the Ninth Concorde Agreement

Formula 1, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), and the eleven teams competing in the World Championship have formalized the ninth Concorde Agreement. This crucial agreement establishes the regulatory, commercial, and governance framework of the championship until the year 2030. The contract was signed by the main entities involved: Formula 1, as the owner of the commercial rights; the FIA, the governing body of motorsport; and the teams competing in the World Championship. The main objective is to ensure the “full alignment” of all participants over the next five years, a crucial period that coincides with the new technical era that will begin in 2026. This new technical era will include innovative regulations for the power units and the single-seaters. According to the official statement from F1, the new Concorde Agreement reaffirms the commitment to drive the growth of the sport and consolidate the significant expansion it has experienced in recent years, both in terms of audience and global reach. The agreement will also allow the FIA to make greater investments in improving sporting regulations, race direction, oversight, and technical development. This aims to strengthen the championship and offer a more attractive product for fans, television networks, and commercial partners.

“This means that sport can continue to evolve, providing exciting technological innovations and high-level sporting action, all within a stable and structured regulatory framework,” the statement notes.

The signing of the new Concorde Pact comes at a time of unprecedented momentum for Formula 1, which combines record audience growth, a dynamic calendar, and a greater connection with the young public, factors that reinforce the championship’s position as one of the most followed sports competitions in the world.
