Santo Domingo – The Dominican Republic is preparing to compete in the XX Bolivarian Sports Games Ayacucho-Lima, with a delegation of over 350 athletes. These athletes will represent the country in 33 different disciplines, in an event that will run from the 22nd of this month to December 7th.
The announcement was made by engineer Garibaldy Bautista, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD), during the closing of the Eucharist celebrated this Tuesday in the Juan Ulises García Saleta hall of the Olympic organization.
“We pray for the health of our athletes and hope they have the best performances, with a worthy representation of our flag,” said engineer Bautista.
The religious ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including the ambassador of Peru in the Dominican Republic, Gustavo Lembcke Hoyle, and Luis Mejía, president of Centro Caribe Sports. Also in attendance were Dulce María Piña, members of the COD executive, athletes from various federations, and presidents of sports federations.
The Dominican participation in the Bolivarian Games will serve as an important evaluation for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.
The Eucharist of blessing for the delegation was officiated by Father Candelario Mejía, of the Sports Pastoral of the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo.
An advance team, composed of seven people from the Mission Headquarters, has been in Lima, Peru, for a week, working on the preparations for the Dominican delegation.
