A day full of emotions and outstanding performances was starred by Dominican players in the Major Leagues. Willy Adames, Julio Rodríguez, Jorge Polanco and the rookie Samuel Basallo, who hit his first home run in the Majors, were some of the names that shone with their own light.
Dominicans Excel in MLB
In the match between the Guardians and the Mariners, Cleveland won with a score of 4-3. Despite the efforts of the Dominicans, with Jorge Polanco hitting his 22nd home run and Julio Rodríguez adding his 26th home run, the victory was not for their team. Polanco finished the game with one hit in four at-bats, one RBI, and one run scored, while Rodríguez went 4-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Gavin Williams, pitcher for the Guardians, had an outstanding performance from the mound, allowing only one run in seven innings and striking out eight.
The Baltimore Orioles dominated the San Francisco Giants with a resounding 11-1. Willy Adames hit his 25th home run of the season, being the only run for his team. Trevor Rogers pitched seven solid innings for the Orioles, and Samuel Basallo celebrated his first home run in the Major Leagues, finishing the game with one hit in four at-bats, two runs scored, one RBI, and one walk.
Carlos Estevez, Royals’ closer, secured his 36th save, leading MLB in this category, by closing the 3-1 victory over the Tigers. Estevez allowed only one hit in the ninth inning.
In San Diego, the Latin offensive made itself felt in the Padres’ 12-3 victory over Minnesota. Ramón Laureano hit his 22nd home run, driving in three runs. Manny Machado contributed two hits, one RBI, and two runs scored, while Fernando Tatis Jr. added a run and received two walks.
Finally, in Tampa Bay, the Rays defeated the Nationals with a score of 4-1. Junior Caminero scored a run, despite not getting any hits in the game (0-3), and Luis García Jr. of Washington went 1-4 with a run scored.
