Dominican Republic shines at Bolivarian Games: 74 medals and 7th place in Lima 2025

The Dominican Republic concluded its participation in the XX Bolivarian Games Ayacucho-Lima 2025 with a positive balance, obtaining a total of 74 medals. The performance of the Dominican delegation, which competed in the multi-sport event, resulted in 12 gold medals, 17 silver medals, and 45 bronze medals. This result earned them seventh place in the overall medal standings. The Dominican representation, composed of 222 athletes in 33 disciplines, exceeded expectations despite having a smaller delegation compared to the Valledupar 2022 edition.

Athletics, judo, and wushu were the most outstanding disciplines.

Other sports with relevant results were weightlifting, boxing, wrestling, table tennis, karate, rowing, and golf. In golf, Willy Pumarol achieved the first bronze for the Dominican Republic in international events.

Memorable Performances

Rosa Angélica Ramírez, two-time Bolivarian champion in shot put, stood out with a mark of 17.44 meters. Other athletes who shone were Ignacio Vásquez (LM1x rowing), Liranyi Alonso (100 meters flat) and Yeral Núñez (400 meters hurdles). In judo, Medickson del Orbe, Robert Florentino, and Maikor Louis Pierre won gold medals.
