Dominican Republic Shines at the 2025 Bolivarian Games

The Dominican delegation concluded its participation in the XX Bolivarian Games Ayacucho-Lima 2025 with a positive balance, securing seventh place in the overall medal table. The performance of Dominican athletes resulted in a total of 74 medals, distributed as 12 gold, 17 silver, and 45 bronze. A total of 222 athletes represented the Dominican Republic in 33 disciplines, exceeding expectations, despite having a smaller representation than in previous editions.

The Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) valued the overall performance, stating that the country “fulfilled once again”.

The COD emphasized that the next challenge is to improve the quality of the medals for the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.

  • Male: 48 medals (9 gold, 20 silver, 29 bronze)
  • Female: 24 medals (3 gold, 7 silver, 14 bronze)
  • Mixed: 2 bronze medals
Athletics, judo, and wushu were the most outstanding disciplines.

  • Judo: 9 medals (3 gold, 1 silver, 5 bronze)
  • Wushu: 8 medals (3 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze)
Other sports such as weightlifting, boxing, wrestling, table tennis, karate, rowing and golf also obtained relevant results. In golf, Willy Pumarol made history by obtaining the first bronze medal for the Dominican Republic in international events.

Memorable Performances

Rosa Angélica Ramírez stood out as a two-time Bolivarian champion in shot put, surpassing her own record with 17.44 meters.

  • Liranyi Alonso, champion in the 100-meter dash.
  • Yeral Núñez, gold in the 400-meter hurdles.
In judo, Medickson del Orbe, Robert Florentino, and Maikor Louis Pierre won important gold medals.
