SANTO DOMINGO – The racquetball competition at the Junior World Championship held at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center offered exciting matches this Monday. The Costa Rican duo formed by Felipe Porras and Gabriel Rojas stood out by obtaining a resounding victory.
Costa Rican Dominance in Doubles
In the men’s doubles category, 12 years and under, Porras and Rojas defeated Americans Reyansh Chandel and Ashvin Aggarwal with a score of 3-0 (11-1, 11-8, 11-5). Demonstrating a solid and consistent game.
In the same category, Mexicans Hermann Gracia and Max Soto also achieved a convincing victory, defeating Dominicans Reynell de León and Mehivel García with scores of 11-2, 11-1, and 11-3.
Also, United States representatives Alden Townsend and Ryan Joeckel defeated Dominicans Emerson Mora and Deikel de León with a score of 3-0 (11-3, 11-3, 11-2).
Women’s Singles Results
In the women’s singles category for 14-year-olds, Bolivian Adriana Bazán defeated American Shreiya Chandel with a score of 3-0 (11-1, 12-10, 11-6).
The Mexican Grisel Gómez starred in a spectacular comeback to defeat the Bolivian Renata Saavedra Rodríguez, with scores of 8-11, 8-11, 11-3, 11-9 and 11-8.
Valentina Villarroel Garzón, also from Bolivia, recovered from her compatriot’s defeat by defeating Mexican Karla Medrano with a score of 11-8, 11-3, 13-15, 11-5. In this same category, the Argentinian Rafaela Páez Bejarano dominated the Ecuadorian Victoria Villacreses with a score of 11-2, 11-4, 11-2.
In other featured results, Costa Rican Larissa Faeth defeated Ivana Salamea of Ecuador, with a score of 11-7, 11-2, 11-15.
Category 16 Years and Under
In the 16 and under category, Mexican Axel Sánchez defeated American Grant Williams in an exciting match decided with scores of 7-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-4 and 11-6.
The Guatemalan Yordi Navarijo also obtained a victory, surpassing the Chilean Ignacio Andrés Gutiérrez Orellana with a score of 11-7, 12-10, 11-7.
The Santo Domingo 2025 Junior Racquetball World Championships feature the participation of athletes from Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, and Dominican Republic.
The competitions will continue this Tuesday from 9:00 in the morning until 9:00 at night, with action in singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
