SANTO DOMINGO – The Junior Racquetball World Championship continues vibrantly at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, presenting exciting matches in various categories. Monday’s day was full of victories and demonstrations of youthful talent.
Men’s Doubles: Costa Rica Shines
The Costa Rican duo of Felipe Porras and Gabriel Rojas shone with a resounding 3-0 (11-1, 11-8, 11-5) victory over Americans Reyansh Chandel and Ashvin Aggarwal in the 12 years and under category. A dominant performance that demonstrates the high level of Costa Rican racquetball.
In the same category, Mexicans Hermann Gracia and Max Soto also advanced, surpassing Dominicans Reynell de León and Mehivel García with a score of 11-2, 11-1, 11-3. On the other hand, Americans Alden Townsend and Ryan Joeckel defeated Dominicans Emerson Mora and Deikel de León with a result of 3-0 (11-3, 11-3, 11-2).
Female Singles: Excitement and Comebacks
In the 14 years category, Bolivian Adriana Bazán defeated American Shreiya Chandel with a score of 3-0 (11-1, 12-10, 11-6). Mexican Grisel Gómez starred in a spectacular comeback against Bolivian Renata Saavedra Rodríguez, winning with partials of 8-11, 8-11, 11-3, 11-9 and 11-8.
Valentina Villarroel Garzón, also from Bolivia, recovered from her compatriot’s defeat and defeated the Mexican Karla Medrano with a score of 11-8, 11-3, 13-15, 11-5. In the same category, the Argentinian Rafaela Páez Bejarano dominated the Ecuadorian Victoria Villacreses with a result of 11-2, 11-4, 11-2.
In other women’s results, Costa Rican Larissa Faeth defeated Ivana Salamea of Ecuador with scores of 11-7, 11-2, 11-15.
Category 16 Years and Under: Vibrant Encounters
In the 16 years and under category, Mexican Axel Sánchez took the victory against American Grant Williams in an exciting match that ended 7-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-4, 11-6.
The Guatemalan Yordi Navarijo also secured his victory, surpassing the Chilean Ignacio Andrés Gutiérrez Orellana with a score of 11-7, 12-10, 11-7.
The Santo Domingo 2025 Junior Racquetball World Championships feature the participation of athletes from Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, and Dominican Republic.
The competitions will continue this Tuesday from 9:00 in the morning until 9:00 at night, with action in singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
