Resounding Success at the Comendador Corre 2025 Race

The municipality of Elías Piña vibrated with the first edition of the “Comendador Corre 2025” race, an event that attracted hundreds of participants from various locations in the country. The competition, which included 2k and 5k races, crowned the overall winners in both the men’s and women’s categories. The initiative, organized by the Deputy Minister of Control and Regulation of Weapons and Ammunition of the Ministry of Interior and Police, Carlos Ogando, was supported by the Mayor’s Office and the Provincial Government. The main objective was to promote ecotourism, physical activity, strengthen community unity, and project the historical and cultural value of the area. The community of Comendador took to the streets to witness the event, which also included raffles for the participants. Among the personalities present were Senator Johnson Encarnación Díaz, Governor Migdalys de los Santos, Mayor Liriano Morillo, and Jovanny Carrasco, provincial director of Sports. This sporting and cultural celebration was part of the 2025 Cultural Week of Elías Piña, creating an atmosphere of joy and unity among families, athletes, and visitors. The race, which started in the Central Park of Comendador, went through the main streets of the municipality, offering a sporting and cultural spectacle to the community. “Comendador Corre” promises to become an annual tradition, promoting sports and coexistence in the border region, while reinforcing the cultural identity of Elías Piña.
