Colombian Cyclist Cristian Camilo Muñoz Dies

Bogotá – The cycling world mourns the loss of Colombian Cristian Camilo Muñoz, 30 years old, who belonged to the Nu Colombia team. The athlete died in Oviedo, Spain, where he was receiving medical attention after an accident in a competition in France. The Nu Colombia team announced that Muñoz died due to “medical complications arising from the accident” that occurred last Saturday during the Tour du Jura. After the fall, Muñoz was initially treated at a medical center for a left knee injury. Subsequently, upon arriving in Oviedo, an infection was detected that required specialized care. Despite medical efforts, his health deteriorated, and he passed away on Friday morning. Cristian Camilo Muñoz, born March 20, 1996 in Ventaquemada, Boyacá, joined the Nu Colombia team in 2024. Throughout his career, he obtained stage victories in several races in Colombia and was mountain champion in the Clásico RCN.
