COD Pays Tribute to Duarte and Celebrates its 80th Anniversary
The Dominican Olympic Committee (COD), through its Olympic Academy, commemorated the 213th anniversary of the birth of Juan Pablo Duarte and celebrated the 80th anniversary of its foundation. The event was attended by students from the Gregorio Luperón School and the San José Parochial Educational Center. The ceremony took place in the Juan Ulises García Saleta Hall of the COD, and included a floral offering at the bust of Juan Pablo Duarte, located on the front esplanade of the Olympic organization.Bautista also shared details about the history of the COD and its role in organizing Dominican sports delegations in international events of the Olympic cycle. Engineer Pedro Julio Quezada, director of the Olympic Academy, highlighted the presence of the students and emphasized values as fundamental to continue Duarte’s legacy. The students of the San José Parochial Educational Center, led by the licensed Ángela Pujols, presented a dramatization entitled “Duarte Inmortal.” The floral offering was enlivened by the Marching Band of the General Gregorio Luperón School, under the direction of the physical education teacher Enemencio Rosario, with the participation of two flag bearers from the educational center. The offering was led by engineer Garibaldy Bautista, accompanied by engineer Pedro Julio Quezada and Pedro Almonte. In addition, José Antonio Tejeda and Pedro Almonte, professors from the Olympic Academy, and Luis Morillo, a graduate of the Sports Administration courses, were present. The students toured the facilities of the Olympic Committee, where they received information about the operation of the different departments.Engineer Garibaldy Bautista, president of the COD, interacted with the students and explained the importance of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 for the country.
