Santo Domingo – Los Leones del Escogido paid a well-deserved tribute to the maintenance team of the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium this Tuesday, recognizing their hard work and dedication behind every baseball game. The recognition took place before the game against the Gigantes del Cibao, highlighting the work of these collaborators, who are essential to keep the playing field in perfect condition.

A Tribute to Constant Effort

This working group is responsible for ensuring the quality of the field, gardens, and all areas of the stadium, allowing each game to run smoothly, especially since Vitelio Mejía assumed the presidency of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) in 2017. During the season, the schedule was adjusted due to storm Melissa. However, thanks to the work of the maintenance team, the field was ready for multiple matches.

An example was the match between the Leones del Escogido and the Estrellas Orientales, held on October 20, which was able to start at 10:18 p.m. thanks to the effort of the staff.

Emotional Moment on the Diamond

Jeudy Paula Capellán, in charge of field maintenance, threw the ceremonial first pitch, accompanied by his colleagues Oscar Gutiérrez, Concepción Rosario, Joscar Pineda, Juan Paulino, Marino Parra, Francisco Núñez, Edwin Lara, Jonathan Vera, Daniel Feliciano, José Hernández and Yon Rosario. The ceremony was attended by the president of LIDOM, the general manager of the Leones, Carlos Peña, and the legend Wilkin Castillo, who was the catcher of the pitch. In addition to public recognition, Paula Capellán and her team received financial compensation as a token of appreciation for their contribution to Dominican baseball.
