“Checo” Pérez Predicts Verstappen’s Success and Reveals Details of His Future in F1

Mexican driver Sergio “Checo” Pérez, Formula 1 world runner-up in 2023, shared his perspectives on the upcoming season and his future in motorsports. During the “From the Track to the Court” event in Mexico City, prior to the Mexican Grand Prix, Pérez expressed his confidence that his former teammate Max Verstappen will conquer the world championship in 2025, highlighting his consistency and talent.

Because of the consistency he has always shown, Max has a very good chance of winning the championship; he is undoubtedly the driver who deserves it the most.

Pérez, who will not participate in this year’s race after leaving Red Bull Racing at the end of the 2024 season, stated that he will enjoy the experience from a different perspective. He confirmed his return to Formula 1 in 2026 as a driver for the new Cadillac team, marking his fifteenth season in the top motorsport series.

New Stage with Cadillac

With 39 podiums in his career, “Checo” was enthusiastic about his new stage with the American team, revealing details about his return.

I want to enjoy this last stage of my career; I am very excited. We already have everything ready, including the color of the helmet: it will be black.

The driver highlighted the confidence and support he has received from his new technical structure, contrasting with his last years at Red Bull. They are already working in the simulator and will have tests with engineers and mechanics to prepare for the start of the season in January.

Closing Cycle with Red Bull

Pérez was part of Red Bull between 2021 and 2024, achieving notable results, including a third place in 2022 and the runner-up position in 2023.

Although his departure marks the end of an era, the Mexican feels grateful for the achievements and motivated by the new chapter that is about to begin. The Mexican Grand Prix 2025 will be held this weekend at the Hermanos Rodríguez Autodrome.
