HIGÜEY, LA ALTAGRACIA – The 50th edition of the Torneo de Baloncesto Superior Altagraciano (TBS Higüey 2025) kicked off with a bang this Wednesday, featuring exciting matches at the Leo Tavárez sports complex.
In the opening day, the Centro and San José clubs achieved important victories, marking the beginning of the competition.
Results of the Day
The Club Centro (1-0) defeated the current champions, Club Antonio Guzmán (0-1), with a score of 92-85. In the first match of the night, San José (1-0) defeated Savica (0-1) with a result of 99-83.
This tournament, which bears the Punta Cana Cup, is sponsored by the Puntacana Group and is organized by the Basketball Association of La Altagracia Province (ABAPA), chaired by Jorge Tavárez. The edition is dedicated to Monsignor Jesús Castro Marte, Bishop of the Diocese of Our Lady of La Altagracia.
In the Central team, Kerry Richardson led the offense with a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds, as well as four assists. Nathanael Louis contributed 19 points and 16 rebounds. Jordy Peralta scored 20 points and Albert Fernández contributed 19 points and eight rebounds.
For the Antonio Guzman Club, Bryan De la Cruz had an outstanding performance with 27 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists. Ariel De León scored 17 points and José Castillo added 16 points and six rebounds.
San José counted on the outstanding performance of Luis Peña, who scored 29 points, grabbed seven rebounds and gave six assists. Jonathan Guerrero achieved a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Albert Reyes scored 17 points and took nine rebounds, while Antonio Gordon contributed 16 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists.
In Savica, Roderick Guzmán scored 24 points, six rebounds and nine assists. Luar Ledesma contributed 15 points, Manuel Suero 14, John Egbuta 14 and Joan Del Rosario 11 points and six rebounds.
