Américo Celado and Odalis Sánchez Will Lead the Coverage of the 50th Anniversary of TBS District 2026

The National District Basketball Association (Abadina) has made important appointments for the Superior Basketball Tournament (TBS Distrito 2026), which will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Américo Celado and Odalis Sánchez, renowned sports chroniclers, will take on key roles in the coverage of this historic event. Américo Celado, a prominent analyst and commentator with extensive experience in television, radio, and print media, will head the Communications Department of the tournament. For her part, Odalis Sánchez, with a solid career in sports journalism, has been ratified in the Press Department, marking her tenth consecutive year in this role. Edwin Castillo (Tatico), president of Abadina, highlighted the professional and human qualities of both chroniclers, emphasizing their passion for district basketball. Castillo also underscored Celado’s extensive career, who has dedicated 40 years to sports reporting, including his work as a sports editor and his television program “Inside Deportivo”. Regarding Odalis Sánchez, Castillo mentioned her 25 years in written chronicles, her experience as a writer and editor of basketball, and her role as press director of the Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal). In addition to their roles in the tournament, Celado is the president of the Santo Domingo Sports Writers Association (ACDSD), while Sánchez is the treasurer of the same.

Additional Designations for the TBS District 2026

Another relevant announcement was the designation of the National Police general, Julio Ernesto Pérez Feliz, as security advisor for the tournament. Castillo emphasized the importance of this advisory role to ensure the success of the event. These designations are added to those already made of Nelson Ramírez as Commissioner, Ramón Ceballos as technical director and Claudio Méndez as administrative director. The teams that will compete in the 50th TBS District 2026 include the champions Mauricio Báez, Los Prados, San Carlos, Huellas del Siglo, El Millón, San Lázaro, Rafael Barias and Bameso. The TBS District is scheduled to be held in August 2026.
