Dominican Republic wins bronze at the 2025 NORCECA Final Six

Guadalajara, Mexico – The Dominican Republic’s women’s volleyball sextet won the bronze medal at the 2025 NORCECA Final Six Tournament, after defeating Puerto Rico in an exciting match that culminated in a score of 3-2. The match, played this Sunday, kept the fans on the edge of their seats with partial scores of 25-22, 20-25, 19-25, 25-23 and 15-13. The Dominican offensive was led by Madeline Guillén, who accumulated 24 points. Alondra Tapia contributed 17 points, while Massiel Matos added 13. Yaneiris Rodríguez, the libero, stood out for her defensive performance. From Puerto Rico, Decelise Champión was the most outstanding player with 25 points, followed by Valeria Vázquez with 17 and Neria Ortíz with 14. The first set was dominated by the Dominican Republic with a score of 25-22. However, Puerto Rico reacted and took the next two sets. In the fourth set, Madeline Guillén led the offensive charge to even the match. Alondra Tapia and the middle blockers Geraldine González and Florangel Terreno also contributed crucial points.

The fifth set was equally hard-fought, reaching a score of 14-12 in favor of the Dominican Republic. Puerto Rico got close at 14-13, but the Dominicans managed to close out the match.

In the statistics, the Dominican Republic surpassed Puerto Rico in attack (63-61), while Puerto Rico dominated in blocking (16-13).
