Dominican Republic Shone at the Bolivarian Games with Athletics and Boxing
The Dominican delegation stood out in the XX Bolivarian Games 2025, held in Lima, Peru, with a fruitful day in medals. Athletics led the performance, followed by boxing and karate, adding important medals for the country.
Athletics: Rosa Ramírez Two-time Champion
Athlete Rosa Angélica Ramírez was crowned two-time champion in shot put, revalidating her title with a mark of 17.44 meters. She surpassed Chileans Ivana Gallardo (17.22 m) and Ahymara Espinoza (17.05 m), from Venezuela, securing the gold for the Dominican Republic.
The women’s 4×400 relay quartet, made up of Bianka Acosta Mercado, Milagros Durán García, Patricia Siné, and Estrella De Aza Henrry, won the silver medal with a time of 3:37.56, finishing behind Colombia, which set a new games record.
The men’s 4×400 relay team, made up of Christopher Melenciano Reyes, Lidio Andrés Feliz, Wilbert Encarnación Luis and Yeral Núñez, won the bronze with a time of 3:06.52. Venezuela took the gold and Ecuador the silver.
Cristian Rodríguez Mota added another bronze medal for the Dominican Republic in the 110-meter hurdles, with a time of 14.39 seconds.

Boxing: Silver for Katherine Bera and José Triset
In boxing, Katherine Bera Cabral (60 kg) and José Agustín Triset (+90 kg) won silver medals in their respective finals.
The Dominican boxing team concluded its participation with two silver and two bronze medals, the latter achieved by Elen Roble (51 kg) and Johan Agüero (60 kg).
Karate: Bronze for Larry Aracena
Larry Aracena conquered the bronze medal in kata, surpassing the Chilean Cristóbal Barra. Casanova Guerrero (Venezuela) won the gold and Alejandro Ramírez (Colombia) the silver.
In kumite -60 kg, Aldhair Zabala Ogando was eliminated after losing his three fights.
Other Disciplines
The mixed rowing team in quadruple sculls finished in sixth position. In skateboarding, Juan Fabián Ruiz took fourth place in the men’s park.
In bowling, Cristhian Rosa Feliz / Ricardo Garrido Tejada achieved tenth place, while Rolando Sebelén / Willie Javier Rivas finished in 13th place.
With these performances, the Dominican Republic remains in seventh place in the overall medal table with a total of 52 medals: 7 gold, 14 silver and 29 bronze.
