Bruce Bochy to step down as Texas Rangers manager in 2026

Arlington, USA – The Texas Rangers announced that Bruce Bochy will not continue as the team’s manager in the 2026 season, but will remain with the organization as an advisor in management.

Bruce Bochy is one of the best managers in baseball history and will always have a special place in the hearts of Rangers fans for bringing the first World Series title in franchise history in 2023.

Chris Young, team president of baseball operations
Bochy, who took over the position in 2023, led the Rangers to their first World Series championship in 2023. During his three seasons as manager, he compiled a record of 249-237 (.512), ranking sixth on the franchise’s all-time wins list. At 70 years old, Bochy has a distinguished 28-season career as a manager in MLB, with 2,252 victories, placing him in sixth place historically. His teams have participated in nine postseasons, winning four World Series titles (with the San Francisco Giants in 2010, 2012, and 2014; and with the Texas Rangers in 2023), as well as five league pennants and six divisional titles. In playoffs, Bochy has achieved 57 victories, ranking fourth historically with a .606 percentage, surpassed only by figures like Joe McCarthy and Sparky Anderson among managers with at least five postseason appearances. The former catcher, with nine years of experience in Major Leagues before starting his coaching career in 1989, has a total of 51 seasons linked to professional baseball, including his time as a player, coach, manager, and executive. This change marks the beginning of a new stage for the Rangers, after a 2025 season with ups and downs and no playoff qualification. The organization trusts that Bochy’s experience and vision from the management will continue to guide the team’s course.
