Blue Jays Suffer Springer’s Injury Due to Fracture and Promote Eloy Jiménez

TORONTO, Canada – The Toronto Blue Jays are facing a new setback due to injuries. Outfielder George Springer was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a fracture in the big toe of his left foot. Springer suffered the injury during Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Twins. In the third inning, a foul ball hit his foot. Despite completing his at-bat, he was replaced and subsequent medical examinations confirmed the fracture. In response to this situation, the team promoted Dominican Eloy Jiménez, who joins the Major League roster after his time with Triple-A Buffalo. Jiménez, 29 years old, has experience in the Majors, having played with the Chicago White Sox and the Baltimore Orioles. In more than 500 games, he has a .269 average and a .780 OPS. In the current season in the minor leagues, his OPS was .744, with a home run in 11 games. The Dominican is scheduled to debut with the Blue Jays as a designated hitter, batting seventh in the lineup against Minnesota. The absence of Springer is added to a long list of injured players on the Canadian team, including Shane Bieber, Trey Yesavage, José Berríos, Yimi García, Anthony Santander, Cody Ponce, Alejandro Kirk, and Addison Barger. Despite having a large roster at the beginning of the season, the Blue Jays now face the challenge of overcoming multiple significant absences in a demanding schedule.
