Santo Domingo – The Banco de Reservas de la República Dominicana (Banreservas) has inaugurated the remodeling of the mixed sports court of Villa Consuelo, located in the National District. This initiative is part of its social responsibility actions, focused on promoting healthy recreation for young people and families in this popular capital sector. Manuel Guerrero, Vice President of Engineering at Banreservas, representing the executive president, Dr. Samuel Pereyra, highlighted the importance of this sports rehabilitation. Guerrero emphasized that it represents significant support for sports in Villa Consuelo, a neighborhood with a deep-rooted tradition in various disciplines.
Guerrero also emphasized that supporting sports aligns with the vision of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, to promote the integral and healthy development of Dominican youth. This is achieved by providing opportunities that contribute to a better future for them and their families. The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, positively valued Banreservas’ initiatives for the benefit of youth and communities. He highlighted the importance of having adequate spaces for sports practice. The mixed court of Villa Consuelo, where basketball and volleyball are practiced, is part of a set of sports works that Banreservas is carrying out nationwide. This remodeling responds to a request from the community, which longed for a worthy space for sports and healthy recreation. In representation of the athletes, Esmerlin Mateo thanked Banreservas for the remodeling of the court. He described it as a work long awaited by the athletes and residents of the sector. The remodeling work included the demolition and placement of new concrete paving. In addition, a vehicular access ramp with a sliding chain-link gate was built. Steps and planters were adapted, and sidewalks were built. General painting was done, new boards, tubes and volleyball net were installed, and a modern lighting system was implemented. The inauguration was attended by various personalities, including Garibaldi Bautista, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee; legislative authorities; leaders of sports federations; executives from Banreservas and sports reporters. Everyone highlighted the positive impact of this work for the community of Villa Consuelo.“From this court will emerge, through their talent, discipline and determination, professional basketball figures of the caliber of Vinicio Muñoz, Tepo Tapia, Joel Ramírez, as well as the Fortuna and Beltré brothers, electrifying players of local basketball and the National Team,”
