HOUSTON, Texas – The Houston Astros have reached an agreement with talented Mexican infielder Isaac Paredes for the 2026 season, thus avoiding the salary arbitration process. The news was confirmed this Tuesday by the club’s general manager, Dana Brown.

The agreement reached includes an option for the team to extend Paredes’ contract for the 2027 season.

Paredes, who was in his second year of arbitration eligibility, maintains the possibility of becoming a free agent at the end of the 2027 season, according to the system’s regulations.

The 26-year-old player arrives after a standout 2025 season, where he was selected for the All-Star Game. His impressive numbers include a .254 average, 20 home runs, 53 RBIs, 53 runs scored, and an .809 OPS in 102 games with the Texas team.

Paredes has demonstrated remarkable offensive consistency in recent seasons, managing to hit 20 or more home runs in three of the last four campaigns. In addition, he has been consecutively called to the Mid-Season Classic in 2024 and 2025, solidifying his position as a fundamental element in Houston’s infield.
