Surprise in Real Madrid’s Squad: Raúl Asencio Absent Against Bayern

Madrid – Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio is the most notable absence in Álvaro Arbeloa’s squad for the crucial second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich. This decision is surprising, especially considering that Asencio played the full 90 minutes of the LaLiga EA Sports match against Girona. The team is looking to turn the tie around, after the 1-2 defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. Despite the absence of an official medical report, Asencio’s absence from the list of 23 players has generated great expectation. The 23-year-old defender will not travel with the team to Munich. On the other hand, after resting in Friday’s league match, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Antonio Rüdiger return to the team. Franco Mastantuono also returns, having served his suspension for accumulation of yellow cards. Due to this, Aurélien Tchouaméni has not been included in the call-up. Due to injury, Thibaut Courtois and Rodrygo Goes remain out. In addition, Jesús Fortea, Manuel Ángel, and Daniel Yáñez were not included in the list for the match against Girona. The complete list of those summoned is as follows:
  • Goalkeepers: Lunin, Fran González and Javi Navarro
  • Defenders: Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Trent, Carreras, Fran García, Rüdiger, Mendy and Huijsen
  • Midfielders: Bellingham, Camavinga, Valverde, Güler, Ceballos and Thiago Pitarch
  • Forwards: Vinícius, Mbappé, Gonzalo, Brahim and Mastantuono
