Alonso demonstrated his ability to connect with the ball with two home runs and a total of five RBIs, solidifying his crucial role in the New York team’s triumph.

The Mets’ leadoff hitter hit his fourteenth home run of the season in the eighth inning, a stunning three-run shot that traveled 447 feet to left field, sealing his outstanding performance. Previously, in the first inning, he had opened his account with another two-run homer, establishing the early lead for the Mets.

Griffin Canning, right-handed pitcher for the Mets, shone on the mound with six impeccable innings, allowing only three hits, with seven strikeouts and one walk, earning his first victory since May 5th.

For his part, Tony Gonsolin, Dodgers’ starter, worked five innings allowing three runs, two of them earned, with three hits, six strikeouts and three walks.

The Mets took advantage of a defensive error by Kiké Hernández in the first inning to put runners on base. Subsequently, Juan Soto drove in Francisco Lindor with a ground ball, before Alonso’s first home run.

The Mets’ bullpen also did its job. In the seventh inning, José Castillo overcame a dangerous situation with runners on first and second, striking out Dalton Rushing and Kiké Hernández.
