Alcides Escobar: MVP and Champion with the Leones del Escogido

Santo Domingo – At 39 years old, the experienced shortstop Alcides Escobar has once again left his mark on baseball, being a fundamental piece in the conquest of the championship and awarded as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2025-2026 Final Series with the Leones del Escogido in the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM).

The Leones del Escogido won the title after defeating the Toros del Este with a score of 1-0 in the fifth game of the Final Series, thus securing the 4-1 victory in the series and obtaining their 18th crown, as well as their sixth back-to-back championship.

Escobar, known as the “Sabanero Mayor”, proved to be a leader in the final, contributing with his experience and key performances in both offense and defense, which earned him recognition as the MVP of the series.

With this new achievement, Alcides Escobar continues to expand a historic career.

This triumph adds a new ring to Escobar’s already impressive collection, which includes championships in the World Series, LVBP (Venezuela), Caribbean Series and now LIDOM, solidifying him as one of the most complete and successful players of his generation.
