Alcaraz will Face in the Roland Garros Final after Musetti’s Withdrawal

Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, number two in the world and current champion, advanced to the Roland Garros final for the second consecutive year. His rival, the Italian Lorenzo Musetti, retired from the semi-final match when the score was 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-0 and 2-0, after two hours and twenty-five minutes of play.

Alcaraz will seek his second title in Paris, and the fifth Grand Slam, facing the winner of the match between the Italian Jannik Sinner, number 1 in the world, and the Serbian Novak Djokovic.

The 22-year-old Spanish tennis player added his 21st victory of the year on clay. During the tournament, Alcaraz demonstrated his dominance on the surface, where he was only defeated by Holger Rune in the final of Barcelona.

Alcaraz has had an exceptional performance at Roland Garros, solidifying himself as the fifth youngest tennis player to reach five Grand Slam finals. So far, he has not lost any final.

Alcaraz acknowledged that the first two sets were complicated, but then managed to raise his level of play.

The match began with Alcaraz showing an offensive attitude, although his shots were not as effective as on other occasions. Musetti, for his part, defended with order, taking advantage of the Spaniard’s errors.

Musetti won the first set, but Alcaraz responded in the second, showing a notable improvement in his game. In the tiebreak, Alcaraz managed to take the lead, which affected Musetti’s morale.

The visibly affected Italian requested medical assistance and ultimately retired in the second game of the fourth set, leaving the path clear for Alcaraz to advance to the final.
