Alcaraz in doubt for Roland Garros: Wrist injury worries

2 Min Read

Madrid – Carlos Alcaraz, current world number two, is in a recovery process after suffering an injury to his right wrist. Uncertainty surrounds his participation in the next Roland Garros, as his presence will depend on his evolution and the results of the medical tests that will be carried out in the coming days. The concern has increased after the publication of an image of Alcaraz on social media, where he is observed with a splint that immobilizes the affected wrist. The injury occurred during the second-round match of the Conde de Godó Trophy, facing Czech tennis player Tomas Machac. Despite receiving medical attention on the court and achieving victory in that match, Alcaraz decided to withdraw from the tournament due to the injury.

Alcaraz Remains Cautious

After announcing his absence from the Madrid Masters 1,000 due to injury, Alcaraz has chosen to be cautious when talking about his return to the courts. During the Laureus awards ceremony, the tennis player did not want to set a definitive date for his return and cast doubt on his participation in the upcoming tournaments, including the Rome Masters 1,000 and Roland Garros. “Well, we’ll see. In the end, the next test is going to be crucial, let’s say, so we are trying to do everything in our power to make that test go well,” declared Alcaraz. The winner of seven Grand Slam tournaments added: “I’m trying to be very patient these days. But well, we’re fine, we’re there, waiting a little bit. We have some tests from here on out in a few days and from there we’ll see how the injury is and the steps to follow. At the moment I’m trying to be positive, to be encouraged, although these days are getting long.”
