Alcaraz Debuts with Victory in Tokyo Despite Obstacles
Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz began his participation in the Tokyo tournament, category 500 and played on hard court, with a victory against the Argentinian Sebastián Báez. The final score was 6-4 and 6-2, in a match marked by incidents and setbacks.
The first set presented complications for Alcaraz. At one point in the game, he suffered a sprain in his left ankle, which required medical attention. In addition, the match was interrupted for approximately 25 minutes due to rain.
Despite the injury, Alcaraz continued on the court with his ankle bandaged. Initial impressions suggested a more serious problem, but ultimately the situation resolved favorably.
In the second set, Alcaraz managed to correct a small initial deviation and secured the victory.
In the next phase of the tournament, Alcaraz will face Belgian Zizou Bergs, who demonstrated his resilience in his match against Chilean Alejandro Tabilo.
Bergs, currently ranked 45th in the world, overcame a difficult start to secure his place in the next round.
