Carlos Alcaraz advances to the US Open final after defeating Djokovic

The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz secured a place in the US Open final this Friday, after defeating the Serbian Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. The final score was 6-4, 7-6(4) and 6-2. For Alcaraz, this match represented a rematch of the Paris 2024 Olympic final. With this victory, the Spaniard reaches his second final at Flushing Meadows. Alcaraz maintains an outstanding streak, having played the final stages in the last eight tournaments in which he has participated. His next opponent in Sunday’s final will come from the match between Jannik Sinner and Félix Auger-Aliassime. Djokovic, 38 years old, was on the verge of adding his 25th Grand Slam, suffering his fourth defeat in the semifinals of a major tournament this year, failing to win a set in any of them.

Reaching the US Open final again feels incredible. Today it was important to maintain intensity from start to finish, and I think I achieved it.

Carlos Alcaraz
This is the first time Alcaraz has managed to beat Djokovic on a hard court. The head-to-head record between the two tennis players is reduced, with Djokovic now leading 5-4. So far in 2025, Alcaraz dominates the circuit with a record of 60 wins and only 6 losses, in addition to having won six titles, including Roland Garros. On Sunday, the Spanish tennis player will seek his sixth Grand Slam title and the opportunity to regain the number one in the world ranking, depending on the result of the other semifinal.
