Alberto Rodríguez is Crowned Rookie of the Year in the LIDOM 2025-2026
The player of the Águilas Cibaeñas, Alberto Rodríguez, has been awarded as the Rookie of the Year in the 2025-2026 championship of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). The election was carried out through a weighted evaluation system, where Rodríguez demonstrated absolute dominance.
According to an official statement, Rodríguez accumulated 305 points, including 52 first-place votes. His outstanding offensive performance during the tournament, dedicated to Don Juan Marichal and in option for the Banreservas Cup, secured him a resounding victory over his competitors.
The young gardener participated in 35 games, leaving impressive numbers. He batted .350, the product of 35 hits in 100 official at-bats. In addition, he hit three home runs, drove in 19 runs, and scored 15.
His offensive impact translated into an on-base percentage (OBP) of .425, a slugging percentage of .540, and an OPS of .965, solidifying him as a key piece in the offense of the Águilas Cibaeñas.
In the voting, Jean Carlos Henríquez (Águilas Cibaeñas) obtained second place with 97 points and six first-place votes. He was followed by Emmanuel Rodríguez (85), Ángel Genao (81), Allan Castro (Toros del Este) with 23, Eddy Yean (Estrellas Orientales) with 18 and Hansell Marcelino (Leones del Escogido) with 12.
Erik González is the Knight of the Year
In another of the individual distinctions, Erik González, shortstop for the Leones del Escogido, was recognized as the Gentleman of the Year of the 2025-2026 championship.
González received the most votes among the participating players, obtaining 12 votes. This award recognizes the player who best embodies the values of companionship, respect for the game, and exemplary conduct on and off the field.
Nine of the votes González received came from players of the Toros del Este, Estrellas Orientales and Gigantes del Cibao, with three votes from each team.
