Alain Prost, victim of assault at his residence in Switzerland
Former French racing driver Alain Prost, a Formula 1 legend, was the victim of an assault at his residence in Nyon, Switzerland, according to local authorities.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday morning, involved a masked gang that broke into the four-time world champion’s home.
According to reports, Prost suffered a minor head injury during the assault.
The Vaud cantonal police confirmed that a family was attacked by several hooded individuals at the residence, located about 25 kilometers north of Geneva.
The assailants entered the property around 8:30 in the morning, threatening the occupants.
Subsequently, they forced a person to open a safe before fleeing the scene. The total value of the stolen objects has not yet been determined.
Authorities have launched a large-scale search operation, coordinating efforts with Swiss and French security forces, as well as border control units.
In addition, psychological support has been offered to the affected family after the traumatic incident.
Alain Prost, 71 years old, is considered one of the most important figures in the history of Formula 1.
During his career, he competed with McLaren, Renault, Ferrari and Williams, managing to be crowned world champion in 1985, 1986, 1989 and 1993.
In the history of Formula 1, only Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton, both with seven championships, and Juan Manuel Fangio, with five, surpass the record of the French driver.
