Águilas Cibaeñas Begin Early Camp with Eyes on the Tournament

SANTIAGO.- The Águilas Cibaeñas will begin their optional Early Camp this Monday at 9:00 in the morning at the Cibao Stadium, their home and headquarters of the 22-time national champions. This camp, although not mandatory, is open to all team players, with the purpose of starting training and reaching the maximum level of preparation.

This camp is particularly beneficial for those players who had less playing time during the summer or whose teams finished their commitments a while ago.

On the 22nd of this month, a week later, the Eagles’ full camp will open, where the presence of all players in the country is expected. As part of the preparation, the team plans to play several exhibition games, preparing for the tournament dedicated to Juan Marichal, which will begin on October 15th. The team’s technical staff will be in charge of training until the arrival of manager Luis “Pipe” Urueta, who still has commitments in the United States. This will be the first time Urueta manages the Águilas Cibaeñas team, a manager with a successful career in Dominican autumn-winter baseball. Currently, the Eagles have several players in the Major Leagues, and those who participated in Mexico have already finished their participation. Sixteen new prospects selected in the Rookie Draft are added to the roster. The Vice President of Baseball Operations, René Francisco, and the General Manager, Gian Guzmán, are working on team formation, in conversations with local players and the hiring of reinforcements.
