Advisory Commission Recommends New Baseball Stadium in Santo Domingo

The Consultative Commission appointed by President Luis Abinader has issued a crucial recommendation for the future of baseball in the Dominican Republic. The organization suggests the construction of a new stadium in the La Fe neighborhood, which meets Major League Baseball (MLB) standards. The proposal, the result of a meeting held on Thursday, February 5, is based on the technical studies and testimonies gathered during the evaluation process. The commission, in charge of analyzing the feasibility of the project, determined that the construction of a new facility is the best option to meet the demands of modern professional baseball and international requirements. An important point highlighted during the meeting was the guarantee that the project’s execution will not affect the facilities of the Carlos Teo Cruz Boxing Coliseum. The Consultative Commission, established by Decree 306-25, is chaired by Dr. Milton Ray Guevara Subero Isa. It also includes the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz; Catalino Correa Hiciano; Vitelio Mejía Ortiz; the jurists Olivo Rodríguez Huertas, Angélica Noboa Pagán, Elka Scheker Mendoza, Julissa Vásquez; and Edgar Torres Reynoso, who serves as executive director. Since its creation, the commission has maintained an active agenda, meeting with various sectors linked to professional baseball to hear their proposals. This consultation process will continue in future meetings, as part of the analysis and final recommendation.
