Américo Celado and Odalis Sánchez join the TBS Distrito 2026 team

The National District Basketball Association (Abadina) has announced the incorporation of prominent sports commentators Américo Celado and Odalis Sánchez for the Superior Basketball Tournament (TBS Distrito 2026), which will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Américo Celado, recognized for his extensive experience as an analyst and commentator on television, radio, and in the written press, will assume the Communications Director position for the event. For her part, Odalis Sánchez will continue to head the Press Department, marking her tenth consecutive year in this role.

Edwin Castillo (Tatico), president of Abadina, highlighted Celado’s career, a native of Villa Juana with 40 years of experience in sports journalism. Celado has been a sports editor and currently directs the television program Inside Deportivo. Castillo also highlighted the work of Sánchez, a native of Villa Duarte and Los Mameyes, with 25 years in written chronicles. Sánchez has been a basketball writer and editor, as well as press director of the Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal). Additionally, it was reported that Américo Celado is the president of the Santo Domingo Sports Writers Association (ACDSD), and Odalis Sánchez is the treasurer of said entity.

The teams participating in the 50 TBS Distrito 2026 are: Mauricio Báez, Los Prados, San Carlos, Huellas del Siglo, El Millón, San Lázaro, Rafael Barias and Bameso. The tournament is scheduled to be held in August 2026.
