Aaron Sánchez is Awarded as Pitcher of the Year in the LIDOM 2025-2026
The pitcher for the Toros del Este, Aaron Sánchez, has been recognized as the Pitcher of the Year in the 2025-2026 season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), after a resounding vote by a jury of specialized communicators.
Sánchez obtained a total of 58 votes for first place out of a possible 69, demonstrating his dominance in the election. The league’s weighted voting system assigns seven points to first place, four to second, three to third, two to fourth, and one to fifth.
The Toros’ pitcher accumulated 441 points, the result of his 58 first-place votes, five second-place votes, and five third-place votes. Óscar De La Cruz, from the Estrellas Orientales, followed in the voting with 185 points, and J.C. Mejía, from the Tigres del Licey, with 165.

At 33 years old, Sánchez had a standout season. In eight starts, he pitched 46.1 innings, allowing only eight earned runs, issuing nine walks, and striking out 34 batters. He limited the opposition to 35 hits.
His performance earned him a 4-2 record, a 1.55 ERA, and a 0.95 WHIP, leading both departments in the league. In addition, he held opposing batters to a .208 batting average. His consistency and control on the mound were key to obtaining the jury’s support.
The jury was composed of 69 members, including independent communicators, representatives of the press departments of the teams, Dominican communicators in the United States, international reporters, and communicators from provinces without professional baseball organizations.
The provinces represented in the vote were La Altagracia, El Seibo, María Trinidad Sánchez, Valverde, Puerto Plata, La Vega, Espaillat, Monseñor Nouel and Peravia, ensuring plurality and transparency.
With this recognition, Aaron Sánchez is consolidated as a key figure in the 2025-2026 LIDOM championship, after an outstanding season with the Toros del Este.
